The School Renewal component of the BSP™ solution model focuses on the physical renewal of board facilities. The objective is to help overcome the school renewal funding gap that exists in most boards and to advance school renewal in four ways:

  • Through creative strategies to leverage the boards existing school renewal plan;
  • Through the reduction of energy waste;
  • Through the structuring of financial models to maximize renewal funding;
  • Through access to external resources to deliver viable renewal improvements.

There are two BSP™ solution components that are directed primarily to physical school renewal:

  1. The Asset Management component, which is designed to help board's get a better handle on the condition of their asset portfolios and manage their resources. In this way, boards can improve the quality of the learning environment and enrollment.
  2. The Energy Management component, which is designed to turn the problem of rising energy costs into an opportunity for school renewal.

Through energy savings and the Recapp Model, which is used to generate workable asset solutions, many school boards are utilizing asset- and energy-management options to generate funding. Boards also benefit from the Recapp Model's maintenance capital plan. The end result is a new source of financing for essential school-renewal projects, many of which have been deferred for a significant period of time.
